Meet Your Session Drummer:

Musician, recording artist and session drummer Brian Hudson has built a reputation as a reliable, creative and versatile drummer, who for the past 20 years, has worked with a wide variety of artists from around the world covering various genres ranging from Jazz to Fusion to Rock to Pop to Singer Songwriter to Blues to Country to Contemporary Christian and much more.

Brian began his musical journey in Clearwater, Florida where he took private lessons, played in bands and attended the University of South Florida School of Music in nearby Tampa.  He later moved to Athens, Georgia where he attended The University of Georgia and became immersed in the diverse music scene that Athens had to offer.

After graduating college, Brian moved to Atlanta, Georgia and, in 2001, began touring with Capricorn Recording Artist MEMORY DEAN who gained national success with the release of 6 studio albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s. From 2001-2017, Brian performed a regular schedule of shows with Memory Dean and still performs with them on occasion. In addition to Memory Dean, Brian has performed and/or recorded with a variety of other artists and producers from around the world including, but not limited to, Grammy Award winning producer Mark Neill (Black Keys/Anderson East), high energy original soul/funk band SOULHOUND, power pop/Americana singer Steve Baskin (cut 3 albums with Steve), jazz/fusion band Next Level (featuring bassist extraordinaire Adam Nitti (Kenny Loggins), keyboardist/pianist Randy Hoexter, saxophonist Sam Skelton and guitarist Anthony Papamichael), pop/rock artist The Perfect Fool from Spain, pop/rock duo from England O’Connell & Love, Australian acoustic/soul artist Tom Francis, smooth jazz artist MADOCA, various Contemporary Christian worship teams and many others.

As a band leader, Brian partnered with composer, producer and Blue Canoe Recording Artist Randy Hoexter to write and arrange a series of original songs that led to the release of his debut album, NEXT LEVEL, in August of 2017. The songs blend jazz, jazz/fusion, funk, and Latin with a contemporary jazz underpinning and feature some of the most talented musicians in the southeast.  Since its release, NEXT LEVEL has gained attention from radio stations and listeners from all around the world and has received glowing reviews from a wide mix of jazz and music publications and blogs. The album peaked at #3 on the Roots Music Report Jazz Chart, #7 on the NACC Top 30 Jazz Chart, spent 9 weeks on Jazz Week’s Top 100 Chart, was on Jazz Week’s Biggest Gainer Chart and the track, “Seventy-Eight,” was featured on the music sampler for Issue 63 of Drumhead Magazine. As a follow up to his debut album, Brian will release a 3-song EP entitled, AHAYA, in the summer of 2021.

In addition to his live work and leading his jazz/fusion band, Brian is an in-demand studio and remote session drummer who has built an impressive list of domestic and international clients who regularly call on him to provide creative, musical and groove oriented drum tracks for their songs. To help create the best acoustical sound possible for his space, he consulted with sound design engineers from GIK Acoustics to create an incredible sounding tracking room. Today, Brian owns and operates Lakeside Sound Studios, just outside of Atlanta, where he partners with artists and producers from around the world to provide custom drum tracks for their projects.
